Job: Senior UX Designer (Hybrid)

Sr. UX Designer with Intranet Search Experience

FULL-TIME, CONTRACT
HYBRID (2 DAYS ON SITE IN VIENNA, VA, WINCHESTER, VA OR PENSACOLA, FL)

Predictive UX is seeking a talented and experienced Senior UX Design contractor to improve the user experience and search functionality of a high-traffic company intranet. The ideal candidate has a strong background in user-centered design and enterprise UX strategy, particularly with intranet systems and search discoverability. You’ll lead research, define design solutions, and collaborate cross-functionally to enhance usability, efficiency, and engagement. 

This will be a hybrid position which means that you must be willing to go into the office 2 times a week, there are three locations to choose from: Vienna, VA, Winchester, VA, or Pensacola, FL.  

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of comprehensive UX strategies for intranet and internal digital platforms

  • Evaluate and improve end-to-end user experiences across complex systems

  • Conduct user research, usability testing, and data analysis to inform design

  • Recommend and apply Design Thinking methods suited to specific challenges

  • Create artifacts such as journey maps, empathy maps, swim lane diagrams, personas, and use case scenarios

  • Design wireframes and prototypes that align with both business and user goals

  • Collaborate with developers, product managers, researchers, and content strategists

  • Influence and guide team members on UX best practices and design thinking

  • Drive improvements in accessibility, responsiveness, and content discoverability

  • Analyze failed search queries and implement UX solutions to improve results

  • Act as a UX lead across concurrent projects with tight timelines

  • Stay up-to-date on design trends, tooling, and emerging technologies

  • Mentor junior and mid-level UX professionals


Qualifications

Required:

  • 6+ years of experience in UX, interaction design, or human-centered design

  • Strong experience designing for enterprise systems and intranet platforms

  • Deep familiarity with wireframing, prototyping, and journey mapping tools (e.g., Figma, Adobe XD, Miro)

  • Demonstrated success improving navigation, search, and user discoverability

  • Strong understanding of accessibility standards (WCAG, Section 508)

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with both technical and non-technical teams

  • Bachelor's degree in UX, Graphic Design, HCI, or a related field (or equivalent experience)

Preferred:

  • Experience with metadata strategy and relevance tuning

  • Familiarity with HTML, CSS, JavaScript (design-focused knowledge only)

  • Experience working in Agile or hybrid development environments

  • Master’s degree or certifications in UX, HCI, or Human Factors

  • Experience with enterprise search platforms, taxonomies, or faceted navigation systems

We’re a team of designers and researchers, led by a founder with 30 years of experience in IT consulting. While you’ll be working directly with the client, we’ll check in periodically to make sure you’re supported and things are going smoothly. You’ll have access to seasoned UX professionals if you ever want a second opinion, need help unblocking something, or just want to talk shop.
