Case Study: Making Metadata Work
To connect employees to personalized content proactively in a single, centralized location.
Predictive UX helped a Fortune 500 company design the user experience for a metadata management platform to tag and track content across disparate systems.
To achieve this, we worked in a UX and Product Management capacity to lead product strategy and user experience design for an application to manage a large, complex set of metadata across multiple systems in use worldwide.
Our work resulted in the following outcomes:
- Bespoke metadata management UX and UI
- Evidence-based design based on employee research
- Design system to support the creation of components
- New information architecture
"Your product manager is very knowledgeable. His ability to work with minimal information and be able to output good products/success is rare."

The Challenge
Predictive UX worked in a Product Management and UX capacity to lead product strategy and user experience design for an application to manage a large, complex set of metadata across multiple systems in use worldwide.
Our work involved defining the optimal user experience for content creators and collaborators from disparate divisions to ensure users are able to find and edit their content within the metadata repository. As part of our efforts, we conducted usability tests, developed a design system, and uncovered opportunities to improve findability and editing capabilities within the metadata application.
From a product perspective, we worked seamlessly in a multi-vendor environment to develop product management best practices for the client and take the metadata repository from MVP into a full-scale production application.
Our work provided the client with:
- Accessibility awareness
- The ability move away from using Excel to track content
- A new information architecture
- An easy to use interface for tagging and connecting content
We are unable to show any deliverables due to an NDA.
Make Your Content Findable
Predictive UX surfaced critical usability issues in search for the corporate content and design teams while also training the client's employees on how to think about and design for search experiences. Our work resulted in the following outcomes:
- New search result designs for each unique content type
- Increased user trust
- Reduced time to information
- Improved clarity
- Improved adoption
- Improved accessibility
- Reduced clicks and scrolling
